Jake on his Trip to D.C.

Categories: Iraq

It’s my last day in D.C. before heading back home to Alaska.  Jake in Washington, D.C.

It’s been a great trip. Earlier this week I got the chance to meet with some D.C. bloggers. These folks have revolutionized the information ag  e. They report it as they see it. Among others, I met with Matt Stroller, David Grossman, James L, and Judith Freeman.

One of the bloggers, Matt Stroller, did an on the spot interview that can be seen here.
I also met with Congresswoman Linda Sanchez, Congressmen Mike Honda and Don Young.

Today I met with Peter Swire, John Podesta, and Brian Katulis at the Center for American Progress. After receiving briefings on the war in Iraq, I am convinced now more than ever that we must have a timeline to get out of Iraq and bring our troops home.

What we are seeing in Iraq is a civil war — an unlimited supply of American blood and money is not the answer. We must have a U.N. mandate and other countries must do their share. We must rebuild our military and its infrastructure. Our troops have done what President Bush has asked and in return they’ve received substandard equipment in the war zone and poor medical treatment when they return. The Bush administration has failed our military. We must bring them home.
